Today we saw 12 whale sharks in the afternoon, although 2 might have been repeated, we’re unsure at the moment. All were male, which was extremely unlikely! Around 3 of every 4 whale sharks spotted globally are male, so seeing 12 in one day is around a 3.17% chance! Unfortunately, some had some pretty bad injuries, such as one that had the tip of his tail freshly amputated, our best guess is by a boat propeller. We were joined by 2 guests – a park ranger and her 13 year old daughter – which was very nice! Overall, it was great to see so many sharks out and feeding, and with a very busy day earlier in the week we got a grand total of 23 sightings in 2 days out on the boat. Talk about a whale of a time! (i’m so sorry)
